Renting your Second Home in France
For those who bought or are thinking of buying a holiday home in France, the question of renting it to help towards the costs is surely one to be asked.
The pros:
- Help towards the costs and mortgage repayments
- Avoid the potential extra tax that President Nicolas Sarkozy's want to impose on all second homes not available to rent
The cons:
- You will have to reconsider the decor of your property to minimise breakage and take out any personal effects that you would not like guests to get access to
- If you organise the rental of the property, you have to organise the marketing, the bookings, cleanings and general changeovers which is time consuming and require availibility and organisation
Also to take into account is the location of your property, the amenities available, the rental income that you can actually get by comparing the offer in the area...and the fact that you will have to register as a business with the French taxes and will certainly have to take an account to do your tax return.
All these facts to take into account...a bit more to think about than 'Let your holiday home boost your income' titles that can be currently seen around...
